Antariksha is an organization of amateur astronomers and enthusiasts based in Pune, India. We have started our work since 2011 to spread the knowledge of astronomy among the public. We always encourage people to make their own contribution to this noble cause as far as possible. Antariksha always tries to inform the public about predicted astronomical events and shares updates about the major activities and the discoveries in the field of astronomy.
In 2011, we started our own monthly digital magazine named “Antariksha” especially to create awareness about astronomy which gives skymap, positions of planets and comets and their possible visibility. Along with that we always try to inform latest updates and upcoming events from the same magazine. Then we started to show social appearance with a website and social media channels like Facebook, twitter, google plus, Instagram, Pinterest etc.
Antariksha teammates have worked since 2004 individually but clustered in 2011 with likewise thinking and objective. We conduct lectures in colleges and schools on basic astronomy and astronomical possible events in that respective period. We organize stargazing programs where we give detailed information about constellations, zodiacs and Nakshatras along with myths behind that and technical information like deep sky objects (galaxies, nebulae, supernovas, star clusters) in that region.
What We Do?
Star Gazing and Deep Sky Observation
We regularly organize immersive stargazing events where participants explore celestial wonders like planets, constellations, galaxies, and nebulae.
Experienced guides help decode the night sky using telescopes and binoculars, creating a truly magical and educational experience.
These sessions are ideal for both beginners and seasoned sky-watchers to deepen their understanding of the universe.
Meteor and Solar Observation
Our meteor watch programs let participants witness dazzling meteor showers while learning about their origin and observation techniques.
Solar sessions offer a safe way to observe sunspots, solar flares, and eclipses using specially filtered telescopes.
These programs emphasize the science behind these phenomena and their impact on Earth and space weather.
Space Missions, Rocket Science & Model Making Workshops
Dive into India’s iconic space missions like Chandrayaan, Gaganyaan, and Mangalyaan through interactive sessions and hands-on model-making.
Participants build scale models of rockets, satellites, and telescopes, learning the science behind propulsion, orbit design, and mission objectives.
This program sparks curiosity and brings space technology concepts to life in a fun, accessible way.
Telescope Making and Instrumentation
Participants learn to build and maintain different types of telescopes and observational instruments, from Newtonians to refractors.
The program teaches alignment, optics, and DIY techniques to empower self-guided exploration of the night sky.
It’s a must-attend for those who love hands-on learning and want to own or build their own instruments.
Lectures, Webinars & Astronomy Podcasts
Our expert-led lectures, online webinars, and podcasts cover everything from black holes and cosmic events to the history of astronomy.
Sessions often include Q&A rounds, offering deep insights into astronomical topics in an easy-to-understand format.
These platforms bring science communicators and learners together across geographic boundaries.
Educational Outreach & Astronomy Excursions
We collaborate with schools, colleges, and institutions to deliver tailored astronomy workshops and projects for students.
Educational trips to observatories, planetariums, and research institutes offer unforgettable firsthand experiences.
These activities nurture young minds and instill a lifelong love for space science.
Basics of Astrophotography
This program introduces participants to the techniques of capturing the night sky using DSLRs and telescopes.
Learn camera settings, framing techniques, and post-processing tools to bring out the beauty of celestial bodies.
It’s perfect for those wanting to blend artistic passion with astronomical exploration.
Astronomy Quizzes, Competitions & Messier Marathon
Challenge yourself with fun, educational quizzes, space-themed competitions, and the legendary Messier Marathon.
The Messier event tests participants’ ability to locate deep-sky objects in one night—an exciting trial of skill and patience.
These interactive sessions encourage learning through competition and community bonding.
Women in Astronomy Initiatives
We host sessions celebrating the achievements of women in astronomy and STEM, spotlighting role models and pioneers.
These events aim to inspire young girls and women to explore the cosmos, backed by mentorship and stories of trailblazers.
Diversity is a cornerstone of Antariksha’s vision for an inclusive scientific community.
Light Pollution Awareness Programs
Through public talks and community events, we raise awareness about preserving dark skies and reducing light pollution.
The program emphasizes the environmental and observational benefits of protecting our night skies.
We promote simple actions that anyone can take to help keep stars visible and ecosystems safe.
Antariksha Digital Magazine
Our magazine features engaging articles, event updates, and astrophotography by enthusiasts across India.
It simplifies complex topics like dark matter or gravitational waves for easy reading and learning.
Contributors of all ages are welcome, fostering a diverse and vibrant astronomy community.
Basic Astronomy Course
This beginner-friendly course covers foundational concepts including celestial motions, star classifications, and space phenomena.
Perfect for students and curious minds, it includes interactive modules and observational practice.
It builds confidence to explore the night sky and prepares participants for advanced programs.
